Refurbished PS3 Review

If you are looking to buy a new PS3 did you ever think about purchasing a refurbished PS3 and saving some money? There are advantages and disadvantages of buying a refurbished unit just like with anything else. Sometimes trying to find not a brand new unit is harder, but if you are lucky enough to find a seller that does, it could save your pocketbook.

Let's look at each pro and con below to review.

Pro: The biggest pro is that you will obviously save maybe $100 to $200 off the price of a new PS3 because it's not brand new. A refurbished unit will typically come directly from the manufacturer in which they received it back as a return and then tested it out to make sure everything looks good and works. The packaging, manuals, and everything else that comes with a new unit should be included along with a warranty. There may be slight blemishes from the unit being handled, but there should never be anything major like scratches or nicks.

Con: One of the disadvantages of buying a refurbished PS3 is that it may not come with a full manufacturers warranty. Typically if you bought a brand new Playstation 3, you will probably get a full 1 or 2 year warranty directly from Sony. When buying a refurbished unit you may only get something like 60 to 90 days from Sony. That's really the only downside of not buying brand new as everything else should be identical.

If you are not concerned about having an extended warranty on your PS3, then buying a refurbished unit could save you a couple hundred dollars. You simply have to weigh out the pros and cons and decide whether or not a new or refurbished PS3 is for you.
