Sony PSP Slim - Big in Features

The Sony PSP Slim lives up to its name. It is 33% lighter as well as 20% slimmer compared to the original PSP system. While it is lighter and slimmer, it still packs a lot of features. For one, it has done away with the metal chassis while greatly improving the WLAN modules. It also comes with a micro-controller plus a lighter and thinner LCD display.

This new version of the PSP comes with notable improvements from the previous versions of the PSP. First, it has a bigger memory capacity of 64 MB that supports the changes in the performance of the web browser. Additionally the battery is slimmer, since the manufacturer has significantly reduced the capacity of its battery by as much as 1/3rd of the original. However, the running time of the PSPM is basically unchanged, thanks to the hence improved power usage. With the bulkier size of the older models, the PSP slim battery cover does not fit with the older PSP version.

To prevent scratches as well as smudges, this version of the PSP boasts of an enamel coated finish. Likewise, the serial port is modified in order to support the video-out feature. The PSP Slim also comes with a loading tray for added efficiency in terms of dimension. On the upper part of the console is the Wi-Fi switch, while the slot for the memory stick has been relocated to the upper left corner. Meanwhile speakers have been moved to the front of the console, near the uppermost part of the screen.

Is The PSP Suitable For Airline Travel?

The Sony PSP is designed to be a mobile game console. It is slim, light, very handy and just looks cool. But how about traveling with a PSP?

You need to take several things into account:

The battery normally only lasts for 2 hours. This is for a normal d3-game medium brightness when loaded from the UMD.

On a long-distance flight this is not really fun. What you might want to do is try to save power. You can do this by lowering the brightness of the display (using the small +/- buttons on the lower side of the display). You should listen through earphones. Not only will this let your neighbor sleep better but earphone will save plenty of power since less power is needed to power the earphone than the internal speakers.

Also consider to store your games on your memory stick and not load them from the UMD. This saves power because the PSP does not need to spin the disc all the time which needs lots of power. This also gives you another advantage: You can story three or more games on your memory stick and you don't need to take the discs with you. This will also keep them from getting lost or damaged.

However for this to work you need a memory card with plenty of free space (5 Gigabytes or more) and a software to transfer the games to your PSP memory card. Consider that the PSP contains a wireless network device which is now allowed during take-off and landing. This means you need to turn off your PSP during these two phases of the flight.

Watching movies on the PSP can be a great alternative to the on-board movies. The screen might be small but since it is much closer to your eyes you will have the same quality - probably better than you have with the onboard movie. Also you can stop and rewind any time you like.

When it comes to listing to music I still prefer the iPod - since it can store more music and the batteries last much longer. However, when it comes to mobile games and movies the PSP is my number one choice.

For my suggestions to work you need to know how to download psp games to your mobile console. Learn more about it here: http://www.squidoo.com/freepspgamesdownloadsreview

Free PSP Game Downloads - 3 Facts You Must Know!

The PSP is easily the greatest handheld game system to ever come out. And like every other game system, buying PSP games can get quite expensive. In hopes of beating this dilemma, many PSP owners are looking to download free PSP games.

But the fact is, everything 'free' comes with some sort of price - including the free games. So before you begin your search, be sure to protect yourself with THESE 3 FACTS!

FACT 1: Peer To Peer (P2P) Networks Are Dangerous.

If you're not sure what a peer to peer network is, it's basically a file-sharing system where individual computers are connected via the internet and exchange files for free. And the reason this is so appealing to people is the fact that it is free. But like I said earlier, free always has a price. Using this method to download games can get you in serious legal trouble, since you are illegally downloading copyrighted material. You can also expect to damage your computer with terrible spyware and viruses.

FACT 2: Free PSP Download Sites Have A Risky Price Too.

There are many sites you can find through Google where you can actually download free PSP games. But again, we must ask, what's the price of free? Well, in exchange for your games, you can have your fair share of spyware, malware, etc. And once you get your spyware, don't rush to get rid of it, because your downloads will be taking more than enough time to complete.

FACT 3: Membership Sites Are Your Safest Option

So what's the price of free this time?? Well, for a small, ONE TIME membership fee, you get access to unlimited free downloads! And you can expect your games to be virus free and legal. You also can expect them to download at the highest speeds. Just remember, if the membership site is asking for monthly membership fees or per download fees, you are at the wrong site. One time fee.. unlimited downloads. That's what you are looking for.

But whatever you do... Don't get ripped off! Be sure to visit Free PSP Game Downloads and find out the best place online to get free games.

Download Playstation Portable Music - Download Music With PSP Blender

Do you want to download great music to your playstation portable? The great thing about the playstation portable is that it’s so diverse; you’re all in one media player! With the click of a mouse you can transfer anything on to it. Games, Movies, Music, TV Shows and software! And with broadband it’s now even easier to download all those things.

But where do you go to download your latest favorite games, movies or music? There are lots of person to person (P2P) sites on the net but most of them are illegal to download from because you break copy write laws.

The best thing to do is to use a special service. There are a lot out there, most of them charge you a small one time fee then you can download music, movies, games & software from them for life. Be wary of the ones that ask you to pay a monthly fee, this is usually not worth it as other services are much cheaper. Also make sure there’s a money back guarantee with the service you use, the ones that don’t could just be drawing you in, only for you to find there selection of downloadable media is poor.

So is there anything else you need to check for before joining a site? Some sites are only compatible with certain Playstation portable firmware. To check this, go into the sites FAQ, where it usually tells you what’s compatible. To check your Firmware go to the system menu within the Playstation portable.

Do you want to have all the latest movies, games, music and software downloaded straight to your PSP. To check out reviews of the best sites to use Click Here

Playstation Portable -PSP

The PSP (Sony Playstation Portable) was released on March 2005. It is the first handheld video game system to use an optical disc format and Sony continues to impress Playstation fans with very impressive specs squeezed into this portable device. This piece if baby can play movie on UMD at a very sharp resolution. The LCD is one of the selling point of PSP besides gaming capability. Not forgetting it ability to play music and surf net as well.(all in one device, dream come trues for many. Battery life has always been a problem with PSP. PSP's battery can last from 3 -11 hours depends on your usage of the device (11 hour can only be achieved if you used it for mp3 playback with LCD off). An extended 2200 mAH battery will increase the battery life by 20%. In Japan the sale of Nintendo DS is still way better than PSP.

Sony has recently release the new PSP Slim & Lite (sounds to me like Nintendo DS lite) that uses 1200mAH battery but will have the same batter life as the original PSP because the new PSP Slim & Lite consume less battery. Not only is the PSP Slim & Lite slimmer, it is also ~33% lighter than the original PSP. Impressive! I think with the release of PSP Slim & Lite, the sale of PSP may or will overtake sales of the DS. Sony has release some attachment to spice up the life of PSP owner. The one that caught my attention most is the PSP GPS Receiver. This device turn the PSP into a GPS enabled device instantly. I am one of those gadget owner that gets bored very easier with my gadget. This add on will makes me wanna use the PSP again.

How to take photos of what's on your PSP by Marcus Rolland

PSP is multi-featured handheld device. You can't just play games but you can also play music and video and run various applications with it. PlayStation Portable's audio player supports a number of audio codecs, including ATRAC, AAC, MP3, and WMA, and has the option to be played with or without a set of five visualizations. The image viewer will display several common image formats including JPEG, Bitmap, and PNG. MPEG-4 and AVC video formats are also compatible with PlayStation Portable.

PSP is a powerful device not just because of these features but also because you can customize your PSP with your own style. You can change its looks, background, buttons, icons and themes. And with the PSP's popularity, there are many sites out there that compare and share various PSP customizations. This is possible by using an application that allows you to take photos of what's on your PSP. More like a screenshot in computer terms. You can't just share your customized background and themes; you can also take screenshots of your favorite game. How to do this? Well, here's a short guide that would get your starting:

1- Download the attachment: 11693_SVCapture05.zip

3.30 OE-A most compatible

2- Extract the zipped file

3- Inside the folder you can see various files, copy capture.prx and capture.ini to your psp's "Seplugins" folder (if it doesn't exist just make a new folder on the root of the PSP called "seplugins" without the quotes)

4- Open vsh.txt or if it doesn't exist, create it by using any text editor and write the following line: ms0:/seplugins/capture.prx If VSH.txt already exist then just add it after the last line

5- repeat step 4 but name the file game.txt and pops.txt (For taking screenshots in a game)

6- Turn off your PSP and switch it back on while pressing R to enter recovery mode

7- Go to plugins and activate all "capture.prx" plugins

8- Exit the recovery menu and Press the note button to take screenshots and L+note button to make an animated gif out of it (to stop press note again)

9- copy __SCE__SVCPlayer and %__SCE__SVCPlayer to your psp at X:\PSP\game150(Where X is the drive of your PSP on your PC)

10- After recording a movie, open svc player and you can watch it there

Here is the summary of controls that you will use:

CONTROLS

Music Button = Take Screen shot / Stop Recording Video Right Shoulder Button + Music Button = Start Recording Video

Right Shoulder Button + Left Shoulder Button + Music Button = Start Recording "Advanced Video Mode"

All screenshots will be saved in X:\PSP\PHOTO in BMP format. With this, you can now express yourself by sharing your customized PSP and your favorite games. These just conclude that PSP is not only for gaming and multimedia use but with ingenuity; it can also be a source of art.

Few gamers are likely to be able to afford the thousands of dollars for the PSP GPS system, but for specialists looking for an advanced GPS platform from Sony, this is a top bet over other GPS systems with all the extra functions.

The PSP compares and does not compare to a laptop. It stakes out a new territory that is somewhere near a tablet pc, but without a Windows operating system. So it is doubtful you'll be able to run your pc programs on the PSP. But for playstation games, entertainment, DVDs, CDs, Mp3s, and internet in one unique package, it is an interesting toy.

The PSP has a memory stick memory system, so you can load up on MP3s from your computer or transfer software and games that way. There is a wireless networking capability for internet access but the browser will not display all pages correctly. Some third party developers have been able to get into the dynamics of the PSP operating system enough to create some official and unofficial software for the platform.

These, especially the hack or homebrews, can expand the PSP system functionality considerably, and there are a lot of great features that the PSP has to draw upon. The introductory cost is reasonable, and even better if you can find one cheap on auction. For those who use RSS for podcast subscriptions to their ipod, the PSP offers a similar functionality. The lcd screen on the PSP is of excellent quality from Sony, making the PSP an over all extremely well engineered piece of consumer technology.

How the operating system expands and the third party software develops for this platform will be continued to be watched and analyzed by an active user community.

Sony PSP is considered the world's first hand-held video game system by Alice Erin

The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a hand-held gaming console released by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PSP is considered the world's first hand-held video game system which has used an optical disc format. The unit is equipped with gaming-oriented controls like the PlayStation face buttons, two shoulder buttons, a digital 4-directional pad, screen brightness, music settings and "Home" button for accessing the system's main menu.

The unit is currently available in seven colours. The unit's 166 MHz graphics chip has 2MiB embedded memory that provides for hardware polygon & NURBS rendering, environment projection & texture mapping, clipping, texture compression & tessellation and dithering, all in 16 or 24 bit colour. The PSP weighs 280 gm (including the battery) and measures 170 mm x 74 mm x 23 mm. It is equipped with a TFT LCD screen which is capable of displaying 16.77 million colours with a resolution of 482 x 272 pixels.

The system has 32 MiB main RAM and 4MiB of eDRAM out of which 2MiB is dedicated to the Graphics Unit. The system's CPU contains 16 KiB of two-way set associative instruction cache and data cache memories. The unit is capable of rendering 33 million flat-shaded polygons per second with a file rate of 664 pixels per second. The PSP is able to play back movies on a Universal Media Disk (UMD) format and its Image Viewer displays a variety of image formats like JPEG, Bitmap and PNG.

The unit's main menu interface consists of a horizontal sequence of icons which shows a vertical sequence of sub-icons when highlighted. Interestingly enough, any videos downloaded to the PSP can be viewed through a streaming USB connection to any Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 which then makes them viewable on a television. The unit can be connected to a wireless network through Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b. This allows PSP players to create a local network of multi-player game-play and also allows them to connect to the Internet.
